EWPAA Privacy Statement & Policy
(For the attention of individuals whose personal information may be collected by this organisation)
Purpose of the Policy
THE EWPAA TAKES ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THE PRIVACY ACT SERIOUSLY AND WOULD LIKE TO TAKE ALL REASONABLE STEPS IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH THE ACT AND PROTECT THE PRIVACY OF THE PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT WE HOLD. THIS POLICY SETS OUT HOW WE INTEND TO SO.
The Personal Information That The Organisation Collects
The EWPAA collects and holds the following personal information:
- Your name and business name
- Current address, email, telephone numbers and related contact details
- Other Industry details
The EWPAA takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we hold is accurate and up-to-date. If you feel that information about you is not accurate or your details have or are about to change, please inform us and we will update your personal information.
Why We Collect It?
The EWPAA collects, uses and discloses the information in accordance with the Collection Statement.
Online Verification of Training Data
The EWPA and TSHA record all training performed by its Accredited Trainers on a National database. From time to time there may be requests by the public to verify a trained operator’s details. If the person requesting information types in a specific card number to perform online verification, the result will show information that relates specifically to that card number. The search result includes the operator’s first name, last name, photo (if linked to the card), date of issue, expiry date of the card and the make and model of equipment trained/familiarised on. We do not disclose personal information such as date of birth, address, phone number or email. The public can only search using a card number and not by typing in first name and last name. Under the 1988 Privacy Act, a trained operator has the right to put a request to the EWPA or TSHA that details of their training are not made publicly available. In which case the EWPA or TSHA will assess this request on a case by case basis in consultation with the Law Society of New South Wales.
Access To Your Personal Information
The EWPAA provides access to the personal information that we hold about you. Access will be provided in accordance with our Access Policy. If you require access to your personal information please contact The Privacy Officer on (02) 9998 2222.
If you have any complaints about our privacy practices or wish to make a complaint about how your personal information is managed please contact The Privacy Officer. Complaints will be handled under the EWPAA’s Privacy Complaints Policy.
The EWPA will take all reasonable steps to protect personal information that it holds from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
The EWPA will also take all reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify information which is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information may be used or disclosed.
We do not contract out data storage or processing functions. On occasions we may employ other companies to perform functions on our behalf, such as mailing distributions. In these instances we ensure appropriate confidentiality procedures are in place to protect your privacy and provide them only with the information required to perform their function.
